SINGLE POINT DAVITS

A single point davit is a compact and efficient launch and recovery system designed to handle MOBs, FRCs, seaboats, interceptor boats, offshore raiding craft, smaller workboats, liferafts, USVs and UUVs, using a single lifting point. These davits are widely used in the naval, offshore, commercial, search and rescue industries, offering reliable and safe deployment solutions even in challenging conditions. Single point davits are a crucial component in the maritime industry, providing a fast, reliable, and safe solution for launching and recovering boats and life rafts.

The PIV 3.0 / PIV 4.0 davit is a fully self-contained “palletized” system. The safe working load of up to 4,000 kg (8,818 lbs) makes it ideal for the operation of RIBs in the 5.5 to 7.5M range.

The PIV 3.0 / PIV 4.0 reduce the installation impact to either new builds or existing vessels. The davit has integrated power pack / accumulators that are factory installed with the complete electrical system.

Integrated into the davit, the boat stowage device can be configured for most hull forms. The performance of this davit can be enhanced with all electric / electronic falls tension, shock absorber and anti-pendulum RIB docking frame.

The PIV 3.0 / 4.0 is available with options that include shock absorbers, falls tension and anti-pendulum frame that interfaces with the rescue boat. Approved to the latest SOLAS requirements this davit can be equipped to also meet the RO-RO regulations.

The PIV 1.0 and 1.6 have a SWL of up to 1000 kg / 2,204 lbs and 1,600 kg / 3,527 lbs respectively. These Davits are suited for integrating into both new construction and existing vessels, with the PIV 1.0 offering a total Davit weight of 730KG. For weight sensitive applications PIV davits can be offered in high quality marine grade aluminum.

Meeting the latest requirements of SOLAS, the davit’s is provided with an anti-pendulum frame that interfaces with the Rescue boat and can be supplied with optional:

  • Falls tensioning
  • Shock absorbers
  • RIB docking frames
  • Integrated boat stowage
  • Davit head lighting
  • Integrated diagnostic / system monitoring.

The Vestdavit PLA series is a fully hydraulically operated, single point aluminium A-frame davit designed to provide efficient, reliable, and safe boat handling operations across a variety of maritime applications.

Also, the compact footprint of the A-frame design ensures efficient use of deck space, making it a suitable choice for both small and large vessels that require reliable launch and recovery systems without compromising valuable deck area. The PLA davit is constructed from high grade aluminium, making it lightweight yet highly durable. The use of aluminium significantly reduces the overall weight of the davit compared to traditional steel constructions, making it an ideal choice for weight sensitive vessels such as patrol boats, navy ships, and offshore support vessels. The PLA series is fully hydraulically operated, ensuring precise and controlled lifting, lowering, and launching of boats. This system provides consistent and smooth movements, reducing stress on both the davit and the vessel. The hydraulic mechanism allows for rapid deployment and recovery, which is crucial in emergency situations, military operations, and offshore activities where time is of the essence.

The PLAR Series is a single point aluminum davit that delivers weight savings of 30 % over an equivalent steel system, thereby reducing upper deck weight on the platform. The system is highly customizable.

Recent insights highlight that the longstanding preference for aluminium davits among navies, coast guards, and fast ferry operators is now extending into new markets, driven by the material’s weight advantages over traditional steel. Aluminium davits are increasingly appealing to a broader range of vessel owners as a structural alternative, offering benefits that support faster, more agile craft. The lighter aluminium structure has been selected by operators of fast patrol boats, such as the Royal Australian Navy’s Cape Class vessels, the Royal New Zealand Navy, the Danish Navy, the Swedish Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard, and more. Recently, security-focused authorities in the Middle East and South Asia have also turned to aluminium davits for fast-response applications within the 850–7,000 kg safe working load range provided by Vestdavit.
