MILITARY DAVITS

Welin Lambie has the experience and expertise needed to meet the rigorous requirements for Military davit applications. The mission requirements for both Combatant and Non-Combatant platforms in the service of their respective countries have all seen a dramatic increase in the need to launch and recover small boats in ever increasing support roles.

All davits designed and manufactured by Welin Lambie are certified to military standards for Shock, EMI and Vibration, as well as operating under BS EN ISO 9001:2015.

SINGLE POINT PIVOT RANGE

Our Single Point Pivot Range (PIV 3.0 / 3.06E) davit is a fully self contained “palletized” system. The safe working load of up to 4,000kg makes it ideal for the operation of RIB’s in the 5.5 to 7.5M range. This davit system reduces the installation impact to either new builds or existing vessels. The davit has integrated power pack / accumulators that are factory installed with the complete electrical system. Integrated into the davit, the boat stowage device can be configured for most hull forms. The performance of this davit can be enhanced with all electric / electronic falls tension, shock absorber and anti pendulum RIB docking frame.

DUAL POINT PIVOT RANGE

TWPIV 5.0 B
The TWPIV 5.0 B dual point davit is a self contained “palletized” davit system that has a safe working load of 5,000kg. This davit has all electric independent self levelling constant tensioning and an all electric main winch. An integrated hydraulic power pack / accumulator / cylinders provides the luffing, making the davit fully SOLAS approved.

The control console and all electrical / wiring and hydraulic components / hydraulic piping are factory installed on the base frame of the davit system. The base frame of the davit has a bolted interface to the vessel providing a low impact installation and allows the easy removal of the davit for service and upgrades. The pivoting boat cradle is integrated into the davit contributing to a reduction in the installation impact. The davit is equipped with full manual operation for the main winch and luffing operations.

This davit is currently serving as the front line system for the deployment of the US Coast Guard OTH (Over the Horizon) RIB on the WHEC 210, 270 Medium Endurance Cutters and the WHEC 378 High Endurance Cutters as part of a rotatable pool of davit systems.

TWPIV 5.0 A
The TWPIV 5.0 A dual point davit is a modular self contained davit system that is designed for a minimum installation impact and delivering the small boat operational requirements. The Type TWPIV 5.0 A davit has a safe working load of 5,000kg and is SOLAS approved with an all electric main winch and integrated hydraulic power pack with accumulators for the davit luffing. This davit is also configured to operate from a vessels central hydraulic system, if one is available.

Equipped with light weight “mechanical” falls tension arms the Type TWPIV 5.0 A davit allows US Coast Guard to deploy their 23ft “Metalcraft”workboat from both the WLB Coastal and Seagoing Buoy Tenders, this davit is also operational on the USCG Great Lakes.

The davit is supplied with an integrated pivoting boat cradle and manual operation of the davit allowing the small boat to be launched in the dead ship condition from the stowed position.

LUM Multi-Tasking Davits

The LUM Multi Tasking type davits provide the flexibility to allow the operation of more than one small boat or a variation of the same class of small boats / landing crafts from the same davit system. Options can be selected that will configure the davit to operate as both a single point and dual point davit with a range of safe working loads from 3,000kg for a single point mode to 26,000kg for a dual point mode.

Options include fully adjustable hook centers. This allows the davit operator to change the location of the fore and aft pick up points by up to 2.5M on either the fore or aft hook. Also available is programmable sequence operation reducing the possibility of operator error.

The LUM type davit is in operation with the British Royal Navy on board HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark used to deploy Landing Craft. The US Navy uses the multi tasking LUM davit to increase their Force Protection / Anti Terrorist activities on the LSD Class of Dock Landing platforms launching a combination of 7 & 11M RIBS.
